Yellow Pitcher Plant is also known as Winged Pitcher Plant,
and Yellow Trumpets.
These are perennial from a rhizome. The leaves are basal,
modified into a hollow tube (the pitcher). One flower per flowering
stem (peduncle), nodding; five sepals; five petals, ovary superior;
numerous stamens. Its preferred habitat is savannas, pine lands,
and sandy bogs.
The leaves are hollow and hooded, with reddish veins.
The flowers are solitary, bisexual in nature, and symmetrical

Flowers usually appear before the leaves emerge, but more often
the leaf and flower will emerge in late spring and early summer.
