Yeatesia viridiflora (Nees) Small Syn: Dicliptera halei Ridd Acanthaceae Plant is a single species, an annual erect single-stalk or branched herb to 24" tall. Its preferred habitat is pinelands and wet soils. Distribution is occasional in the Escambia region. The leaves are simple entire short-petioled to 5" long and 2" wide. The color is light green, shiny above, and hairy below. The flowers are in compact cylindrical axillary and terminal spikes amid hairy bracts. The corolla is 3- or 4-toothed, 2 stamens. The color is usually creamy white, appearing in May to July. Fruit is a capsule. |
