Spined Soldier Bug
Podisus maculiventris
The Spined Soldier Bug is a medium-sized predatory stink bug
that preys on a wide variety of other insects, especially larval
forms of moths and butterflies. The primary colors range from
silver and black to gold, copper and tan. This beneficial species
is associated with several crops in Florida and Alabama, including
alfalfa, celery, soybeans and cotton.
