To identify the Slider (also known as Basking Turtle), look for a red, orange, or yellow stripe or patch behind the eye. The chin is rounded on the underside. The carapace is olive to brown, with yellow stripes and bars. Its preferred habitat is shallow, weedy freshwater areas.
