Identify the Gyro False Morel by its large cap, which is often saddle-shaped, lobed and veined. The colors range from burnt orange to chocolate-brown on the upper margins and white beneath. The flesh is brittle and white. The stalk is large and broad with a slightly larger base; somewhat ribbed and nearly hollow to cottony inside. Its preferred habitat is under hardwood forests at low elevations. This plant is extremely poisonous. |
