Agaricus campestris Agaricaceae (Meadow) Mushroom Family |
| To identify the Meadow Mushroom look for a white or off-white cap that may have occasional brown streaks or scales and a wavy or fringed edge. Ideally the cap would measure 1-4 inches; however, there are some reported to be 6+ inches. The gills are pink, turning brown, purple or black with age. The stem is white with a thin collar near the top. Spores are dark purple. Its preferred habitat is open grassy areas. |
