Golden Chanterelle
Cantharellus cibarius
Cantharellaceae (Chanterelle) Mushroom Family
 
This Golden Chanterelle is identified as having a cap spread of 1-6 inches wide and a stem 1-3 inches tall. The cap is yellow to orange, and the gills are buff colored (sometimes orange-buff) and spaced rather far apart. The gills are also forked and blunt-edged. The stem is always the same color as the cap and gills. The color bruises dark brown. Its preferred habitat is woods and roadsides.
