Zigadenus glaberrimus Marantaceae (Arrowroot) Family ![]() Death Camass is also known as Camass. Plant is an upright, smooth perennial with a rhizome from which new growth emerges. Preferred habitat is savannas, pine woods and bogs. Distribution is throughout the Escambia coastal region. Leaves are mostly basal; linear; no teeth and no lobes; upper leaves are reduced in size. Flowers are in a terminal panicle; petals clawed; sepals sometimes clawed; perianth white to yellowish white, with each segment having a pair of green glands. Flowers occur in the summer. Fruit is a capsule.
