Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Pg. 372. The forewings are brownish-gray, mottled brown or yellowish-tan. The post-median line is fine and mostly straight, turning sharply back toward the wing margin (costa). The short upper section curves inward. The wing margins are slightly scalloped. Caterpillar host plants are Ash, Basswood, Birch, Elm, Maple, Poplar and Willow
