Alaus oculatus Family: Elateridae Digital image July 15, 2004 Most click beetles measure about 1-1/2 inch long. The body is narrow with the head loosely hinged to it. Triangular projections at the rear corners of the head (part of click mechanism) clicks and jumps at the same time. Larva is called 'wireworm.'
