Chocolate Lenzites

Pore Fungi (Polyporaceae) Family
 
The size of Chocolate Lenzites is 3/4-4 inches broad. The thin cap is flexible. It color is bright rusty brown with white or creamy margins. The outer skin may be hairy or smooth. The underside of the cap has gills or pores, but no stem. Its preferred habitat is alongside, or on conifer logs and stumps, or any fallen hardwood. Spores occur in summer and autumn.
