Plant is an upright, hairy perennial. Its preferred habitat
is savannas, pinelands and moist roadside ditches. Distribution
is throughout the Escambia region.
The leaves are mostly in a basal rosette, consisting of
one whole part, spatula-like in outline; no teeth and no lobes.
The flower is a solitary head; usually nodding. Disc flowers
are bisexual in nature and symmetrical in form. The color ranges
from white to light yellow. Ray flowers are female, numerous
and white (often pinkish below). Flowers occur in the spring.
Fruit is a seed which outer layer is fused to it (achene). |
