Plant is an upright, hairy perennial. Preferred habitat is woods and roadsides. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.

Leaves are opposite on the stem, attached at the base, which might appear as though the stem actually punctures the leaf (perfoliate). Leaf margins are toothed and the tip is long pointed.

Flowers are in a flat-topped cluster of heads at the end of stalks; bisexual; symmetrical in shape. Disc flowers are white. Flowering occurs in the summer.

Flowering date is in the summer.

Fruit is achene (a seed which outer layer is fused to it.
