Bitter Bolete Mushroom
Tylopilus felleus
Boletaceae & Strobilomycetaceae (Tube) Mushroom Family

 
Bitter Bolete Mushroom is identified by its brown to tan cap that turns pink or rose with age. The cap underside is white and bruises to brown. There are no gills, but tube-like openings under the cap. The spores are dull pink to rose.  Its preferred habitat is near logs and stumps of conifers and gallberry colonies.
