Identification Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 349. The wings are powdery yellowish tan to the post-median line, evenly darker brown beyond on all wings. The costal spots are large, dark brown and located near the apex. Another smaller spot is located just outside the post-median line.

Similar species: Red-headed Inchworm Moth, M. bisignata (Wlk).
