Balloon Vine
Cardiospermum halicababum
Sapindaceae (Soapberry) Family

Plant is an annual, partially woody vine. Preferred habitat is roadsides, depressions and the margin of ponds, lakes and swamps. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.

Leaves are in clusters of three (bi-ternately compound), with individual leaf segments lance-like and toothed.

Flowers are in clusters in the leaf axil; on short stalks; irregular in shape; four sepals, four petals; white to bluish white. Flowering occurs in the summer.

Fruit is a capsule.
