The adult anole may attain an overall length of 5-8 inches.
Its color is usually green (or mottled or solid brown). When
defending its territory a pink throat fan will appear to signal
its aggressive ability. The toe pads are enlarged, which enables
it to climb and cling to most any surface. The preferred habitat
of Green Anole is trees, shrubs, vines, walls and fences. If
handled it will bite, but bites are rarely strong enough to puncture
the skin. Such bites are harmless, although a slight infection
may arise due to bacteria left by its gristle-like teeth. |
